If you’re currently seeking help with a Domestic Violence Restraining Order (DVRO) proceeding in the Los Angeles area, our in-person clinic offers low-cost, guided assistance preparing your DVRO paperwork with an attorney review.

The clinic is hosted at our sister law firm, Stearns & Ryan, Lawyers. Sessions are small, separated by party type for safety (we serve both petitioners and respondents), and held on weekdays and select weekends in Torrance, California.

Parties seeking protection & Protected Parties

  • For individuals seeking protection from an abusive partner, ex, or immediate family member through a Domestic Violence Restraining Order.

  • For individuals already protected under an active restraining order who need to renew that protection before it expires.

  • For individuals requesting to modify or terminate a long term restraining order (DVRO After Hearing).

  • For individuals responding to the restrained party’s request to modify or terminate a long-term restraining order.

Clinic B

Parties against whom a Restraining Order is sought & Restrained Parties

  • For individuals who have been served with a request for a Domestic Violence Restraining Order and need help preparing their court response.

  • For individuals currently restrained under a DVRO who are seeking to modify or terminate the order.

  • For individuals currently restrained under a DVRO who are responding to the protected party’s request to modify or terminate the order.

*Disclaimer: Clinics are scheduled based on demand. Whether a clinic is held on a given date—and whether it will be a Type A or Type B clinic—will depend on the number and type of registrations we receive. Clinic attendance is by-appointment only, no walk ins. Participants will receive confirmation of the date, time, and location of the clinic at least 2 business days in advance. For next-day or same-day availability, please email us at info@udoitlegal.com and fill out the interest form. If there is significant demand, additional clinic dates may be offered beyond Fall 2025.

Clinic Eligibility

  • Age

    You must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Language

    You must be proficient in English (we’re currently developing Spanish-language services as well).

  • Location

    You must either live in California or be eligible to participate in a California DVRO proceeding

  • Case Type

    UDIL only provides services for Domestic Violence Restraining Order cases at this time.

  • Representation

    You must be a self representing litigant (i.e. not represented by a lawyer) with legal decision-making capacity.

    Due to limited office space and safety protocols, we are only able to accommodate a small number of participants per session (approximately 5-10 people per session).
